Are Teens Ready for the World of Work? How Ohio's Workforce Preparation Initiative Addresses Skills for Success

This Ohio 4-H Workforce Preparation Initiative program showcase will focus on the accomplishments and research-based information generated over the last 18 months. The Initiative was developed to strengthen and expand programs and is based on a model with five components. The showcase will highlight current concerns about employees entering the workforce lacking the 21st century skills needed for success.


Young Heroes: Military Deployment through the Eyes of Youth

Young Heroes is a youth service project designed to respond to the needs of youth impacted by military deployment.  This program showcase illustrates the process of developing and implementing a video-based, teen-led service project and highlights the challenges and successes of the project.

Continuous opportunities for young people to make choices and have genuine youth participation in decision-making bodies and processes known as “youth in governance” has become important in the building of stronger communities. Our Program Showcase celebrates the 2007 Beyond Youth Leadership Grant and 2007 Power of Youth Award winners for their success in involving youth in organizational and community decision-making.
